Events

During the 2016-2017 school year, there will be three SPARC [scholarships] speaking events leading up to the Final Event. The overarching theme will be the experience of minority groups within the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) field. These events are free and open to the public.

 

  • November 12, 2017 at 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
    Tinkham Veale University Center, Ballroom A
    Topic: The Culture of STEM. This event will focus on the current state of the STEM field and what roles underrepresented groups currently play.
  • January 30, 2017 at 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
    Tinkham Veale University Center, Ballroom A
    Topic: Breaking Out of the Bubble. Students will aim to raise awareness about the varied experiences that people have in the STEM field.
  • February 28, 2017 at 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
    Tinkham Veale University Center, Ballroom A
    Topic: The Ideal World. What does the ideal STEM field look like and what can do we now to achieve it?
  • April 15, 2017 at 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
    Tinkham Veale University Center, Ballroom A
    Topics: All three of the previous topics will be covered; winners from each event will elaborate on their previous speeches.
